Every major supermarket bakes fresh bread,have lettuce ect. Why go and pay someone if I can make it myself. That said, go have a sandwich at Panino's on Tejon-they use the pizza dough to make sandwiches. Aside from having pretty decent sandwiches, they've also go day old italian loaves that they sell for 75 cents. It looks like a sandwich chain called Jimmy Johns, but I'm not sure. I hope they survive, Downtown needs them.
