Seth is gone at Nosh
Here's what Teresa Farney has in her Table Talk column on Friday:
The every changing world of restaurant chefs is on-going. This time, Seth Elwonger, the chef who opened Nosh, in the Plaza of the Rockies, is gone. Owner, Joseph Coleman, says “We’re working some things out with ticket time and improving service.” He’s not sure when or if a new chef will be hired.
Hmmmm. Anybody know any more about this?

I thought Seth was one of the high points at Nosh. He always made an effort to connect with the guests and made great food. I think Nosh is awesome, a great place for fun drinks, yummy small plates, etc. Lunch still had some kinks to work out, but I hope they don't change too much!
I was a Seth fan, too. I'll still go to Nosh because it's the best value in town for gourmet small plates and drinks.
But I'll also go wherever Seth lands.
They let go of a lot of their people the day after Christmas to include their chefs. Then they cut hours of other people. Funny how that happened and Joe opened his new fish taco place and is now gone on vacation as the Blue Star and NOSH are advertising.
The taco shop that ate Nosh?
Nooooooooooooooo!
I wonder if NOSH wasn't doing so well since it got cold enough to close the patio. Face it, they used to be able to accommodate over twice as many people as they can now.
It's a great concept and their food has always been terrific. It's a shame they had to let Seth go, and it's curious that they fired or cut back so many other staff members.
There are a whole lot of reasons for for these changes, and i believe the explination will change from person to person, it is a shame, i truely loved Nosh, the staff, and most importantly the customers and community of the Plaza. I do want to say thanks to everyone for your support and feedback, and as much as I will miss Nosh and the people connected with it from staff to customer, I do not miss the organization it is affiliated with. most importantly we are all moving on with brighter hopes and ambitions. thanks again.
Seth,
Please let us know the second you get another job, and don't you even THINK about leaving town. We've lost too many great chefs already.
Seth,
On another note, Teresa is doing a food story and wants your expert advice about something. Would you please email her at teresa.farney@gazette.com?
I'm not shocked that Seth left Nosh. I was a buss boy for them last summer. (2007) I was fired 3 weeks after starting. What it came down to was that I asked the manager for my tips and my paycheck that were a week over due. He felt I was being disrespectful. He pulled me aside and asked me if I was working there for the restaurant or myself. (Keep in mind that I had just graduated and was trying to make money for college.) I told him that I was there because I needed to make money for college. He then fired me. One week later, I called to get my last paycheck and my tips. I showed up, my paycheck was written to compensate me for 6.75/hr. He had agreed to pay 8.50 upon hiring me. Also, my tips from the previous week were lost because "magically" someone already gave them to me... With all of that being said, I will never support Joe Coleman by eating at or working at one of his restaurants again.
We just went to Nosh on Saturday night. Everything we had was good, especially the Thai Fish and Chips. But, the small plate menu is shrinking!! Where are the Nori Beef wraps?? I'm hoping that it's only temporary... The servers were very attentive, but I did miss the personal interaction we always got from Seth. I could tell that they are working to upgrade the service side of things. Looking forward to warmer weather and the patio opening!
