Jimmy John's -- is this the best sandwich in town?

I love the new Jimmy John's sandwich shops, but I have an issue.

I think it has to do with the construction of the sandwiches or maybe the heavy use of condiments. But by the time I'm almost done with the sandwich, the meat begins to slide out every time I take a bite. In one case, I was driving... and wearing cream-colored pants! (Yes, I've talked to my attorney about this.)

Has anybody else had this problem?

I haven't had that problem.

I always eat in my car and I keep an old bath towel in the car so I can drape it over me while eating and driving. That way if I make a mess it hits the towel and not my clothes.

1. Consider eating...then driving. I would guess that isn't an option since you wouldn't have a free hand for your cell while driving & eating!

2. I believe (but wish I didn't) that you have "talked to" your "attorney about this." Try personal responsibility first. Lawyers and society can't cure all your eating and other problems. It boggles me that you want to blame the preparer/Jimmy John's because you soiled your cream colored trousers while eating their sandwich while driving.

Warren,
All kidding aside, can you tell me why Jimmy John's might be the best sandwich in town? I've heard of the chain, but have yet to try one. I live on the east side and I thought I heard they were opening a store in the King Soopers strip mall at Stetson Hills and Powers.

People who've known the chain from elsewhere in the country have kind of a Jimmy John's cult. They LOVE this place.

To me, it's a worthy competitor with Quiznos.

The quality of meats and cheese is a step up from most chain joints. The bread is good and fresh.

But the thing that really separates Jimmy John's from the others is the speed. I had went for a sandwich a few days ago, and it was out, literally, in less than 30 seconds!

To do that, they're standardized. It's not customized like Subway. Unless you speak up, you get it THEIR way. But THEIR way is pretty darned good.

I also like the local place downtown. Grand Slam Subs.

But I still miss my NY sub shops, where you'd get a hero that had enough meat to choke a T-Rex.

It's called Gravity. If you're eating it in the car, your sandwich insides will of course be flowing down, as you bring it up vertically to your mouth. Because, personally, I've never had the problem. And why would anyone want to complain about too much food?
